Schools Out for Summer

Heaton Park is buzzing with activity as preparations are underway for the start of free activities for children aged between 8 and 16 years of age, taking place over the Summer of 2008.

The events run Monday to Friday, from the 28th July until the 22nd August and are extremely popular with local children.

The programme is led by the Heaton Park's Warden Team, who have organised this service for the last 6 years.

Paul (Park Warden) said "We're really excited this year, about running some fairly new activities in the currently popular style of Ray Mears and Bear Grylls. We piloted these for the first time last year and the children really enjoyed them, they are things like building a woodland shelter or how to survive in the wilderness."

Other popular activities include angling, arts & crafts, horsing around, and golf
