Eat, drink and shop at 'The Stables' and 'Pavilion'
Heaton Park  offers fabulous freshly prepared locally sourced food drink and a quirky afternoon tea.
The cafe serves homemade hot and cold food including salads, sandwiches
and cakes. Over the next few weeks they will offer the full menu which
includes posh fish fingers and even afternoon tea. Many ingredients are
locally-sourced. We also offer a selection of top quality products to take away and enjoy at home.

There is also a deli selling bread, chocolate and honey produced by bees in the park.
All this is in an open plan environment with a wood beamed ceiling. The decor is fresh and there are chalk boards and toys in a children’s area.
Paintings of the park’s iconic lions by artist Joy Ladds are on the wall.
However, the Stables is not an ordinary cafe - it’s a place where young people are given a chance.
Glen Duckett, 36, Director of EAT Pennine (Employment and Training)
took on the park cafe after transforming the fortunes of the Eagle and
Child in Ramsbottom. Frustrated at high levels of youth unemployment and
limited opportunities he revamped the pub with his own money.

He said: “We wanted to extend EAT following the success of Eagle and Child and help even more young people.
“It
was a shell when we started work. The furniture is handmade out of
timber from old scaffolding and we wanted to create a friendly and open
atmosphere for people to feel welcome.
“Our main aim is to serve
great food, provide a warm welcome, whilst we also help over 60
disadvantaged young people into training and employment over the next
three years.”

The project has been supported by Key Fund and United’s ‘Big Venture Challenge’ programme as well as EAT’s own investment.
