Orienteering
Heaton Park has its own orienteering course, with 7 varying levels of difficulty ranging in distance from 1km up to 6.5km. Course maps can be purchased from http://www.gmoa.org.uk/ .  The course has been designed by Greater Manchester Orienteering Activities   Maps can also be purchased from the Heaton Park Wardens at  £1.60, please telephone 0161 773 1085 to discuss your requirements.

Play Areas
Heaton Park has two dedicated children’s play areas providing a range of activities for children aged from 3 years up to 14 years.

Rowing Boats
Lakeside Leisure, in partnership with Manchester City Council, operate rowing boats on the lake. The rowing boats are available for hire daily from April to the end of September, from 10am until 4pm on weekdays and 10am until 6pm at weekends. From October onwards boats will be available on Saturday and Sunday only. The cost is £8.50 for up to 4 people for 45 minutes. All boating operations are dependant on weather conditions. Tram Rides

Trams operate in the park on selected Sundays and most Bank Holidays. A Wednesday service runs in June and July, primarily for school parties, this should be booked by prior arrangement. For further information see contact details on the Tramway Page.

Pitch & Putt

For all families, juniors and new golfers, why not try your hand on the Par-3 course. This is an 18-hole ‘to scale’ pitch and putt golf course and is without doubt a fun experience for all abilities and ages. For further information about golfing in general visit our Sports Page.

Beekeeping
The Manchester Beekeepers open the Dower House to the public on Sunday afternoons from 2pm. There is a demonstration hive where you can safely see the bees at work, and displays about bees and beekeeping.  You can also buy the famous Heaton Park Honey. Land Train
You can tour round the park on the ‘Heaton Hopper’, a service that runs daily throughout the summer months from 11am. A round trip from the Hall car park to the Lake and back costs £1 per person. Fun Fairs

A traditional feature of Heaton Park is its regular Fun Fairs. These are in the park from April to October throughout most of the school holidays and during large events.

The Hidden Gem Garden Centre

This is the Earl of Wilton’s old kitchen garden.  You can buy plants and get advice from staff at the centre.  Enjoy a drink and home made cake when the Friends of Heaton Park have their Coffee mornings on the 1st Sunday of the month from April to September 11am – 2.30pm.
