Heaton Park Ramblers Group
Sunday, 21st March 2010. Piethorne Valley near Newhey. 3 miles - moderate. Meet at the Three Arrows car park at 2.30pm back approx 6pm.
Heaton Park Ramblers is a voluntary group of likeminded individuals who enjoy rambling at various locations across the North West of England. Most walks are between three and five miles and tend to have an incline, so eligibility to join this self-managed group is that individuals must be able to participate in walks classified as "moderate."
Heaton Park Ramblers was started in June 2008 and grew from an interest by people who attended, the Health Walks at Heaton Park. The group is led by Jacqueline, who trained at Heaton Park as a voluntary health walker.
Heaton Park Ramblers meet fortnightly at the car park of the Three Arrows pub on Middleton Road near Jct19 M60. They share cars and drive for approximately thirty minutes paying the drivers two pounds each. The group of walkers try to bring a social element into the walks so may stop for breaks to admire the view or look at something interesting!
Walkers are asked to wear suitable clothing and footwear and are responsible for own food and drink. Please no dogs or children. People who come on the walks do so at their own risk. There is no membership, just come on the day.
