Smithy Lodge
Smithy Lodge is the earliest gatehouse into Heaton Park and was built in a quirky octagonal shape. Its name derives from a group of blacksmith's shops set close by on Middleton Road.
It shows that Sir Thomas Egerton was a man of fashion and taste and the design of Smithy Lodge shows that he embraced the change towards the romantic landscape. It was designed by Lewis Wyatt in 1806 as a cottage and has now tastefully been restored into luxury self catering accommodation.
The building hosts a lounge, a spacious kitchen area with dining room table allows for an intimate dining experience. The upstairs is complete with two twin bedrooms and the master bathroom has both a shower and full size bath, great for a long soak or a quick brush up before heading out.
