In September 2004 Manchester City Council handed over the newly refurbished Dower House to the Association and since then we have furnished it with an observation hive, equipment and displays and of course installed an apiary in the garden.
The Dower House has been equipped to extract and bottle honey under hygiene conditions to food industry standards so we can continue to sell the popular Heaton Park Honey.
We started our beekeeping courses in April 2005 at the Dower House and because they were so popular have since extended these to theory courses in the nearby Abraham Moss Adult Learning Centre.
We now open the Dower House to the public on most Sunday afternoons from 12-4pm.
