New Yoga classes every Saturday
Come along to Heaton Park and have a go at Yoga suitable for beginners and those with some Yoga experiance. The sessions take place every Saturday 10am till 11am and cost £7.50 each session. The park offers fishing facilities for keen anglers. A permit can be obtained from the park’s host fishing club King William IV Angling Society. For further information and contact details see the Anglers Page in our Community Groups section. If you just want to fish for the day, a day ticket at Heaton Park costs: £3 adult, £1 Junior (up to 16 years of age). Payment will be collected on the day by the baliff, whilst fishing 'on the bank'.
Bowls & Croquet
Heaton Park has an impressive bowls pavilion with four flat greens boasting an international reputation and is a legacy from the Commonwealth Games 2002. These are used regularly for bowling and croquet competitions. Our championship standard greens are open to the public each Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon from April to the end of October. The Championship Golf Course
Designed by 5 times Open champion and founder of The Professional Golfers Association (PGA), J. H. Taylor opened the course in 1912, which has since been the host venue of many professional and amateur tournaments, as well as supplying members of the general public with an outlet for their weekly golf fix.
This parkland course offers spectacular views over the Pennines and surrounding countryside, whilst providing a real test for golfers of all standards.
The signature hole is the 193 yard 11th, which was once described as "the toughest par-3 in England", by legendary professional Henry Cotton.

Our 18 hole to scale par-3 course offers something for the whole family to enjoy. This course caters for all ages, abilities, and standards, whilst offering all year round golf.
The First Tee of Manchester® Junior Golf Academy
Mack Golf is dedicated to the development of junior golf at grass roots level, and the on-going The First Tee of Manchester® Junior Golf Academy continues to encourage local youth aged 5 to18, to enhance their golf skills from beginners through to excellence. Through The First Tee Life Skills Experience®, we teach children valuable life skills through the medium of golf in a non-competitive, fun environment.

A Manchester City Council planning committee has approved plans from Goals Soccer Centres plc. This investment will provide better sporting provision at Heaton Park. This will include small-sided football pitches, tennis and netball courts, a climbing wall and changing rooms. The new Sport Zone will be developed on 3.4 hectare site in the north-east corner of the park.
It is hoped the new facilities will be open for use in 2011.
RUN ENGLAND 3-2-1 : HEATON PARK
3-2-1 is Run England's project which aims to provide a range of marked running or jogging routes across the country that anyone can have a go at. Here in Heaton Park, the routes all start and finish by the lakeside car park.
There are 3 routes to choose from which are colour coded: Route 1 colour Blue is 0.75 mile/1.2km in length, Route 2 colour Green is 1.85miles/3km in length and Route 3 colour Red is 3.1miles/5km in length.
Just choose your route and follow the coloured discs mounted on wooden posts or trees.
All routes start at the path leading off the carpark near the large notice board.
Every Saturday 9am start. Meet 8.30-8.45am at the Lakeside Cafe.
Parkrun organise free, weekly, 5km timed runs around the world. They are open to everyone, free, and are easy to take part in.
parkrun organise a series of small, friendly, weekly running events at Heaton Park.
Athletes of all abilities are always welcome - everyone from beginners through to Olympians, and from juniors through to pensioners. You can never be too slow, but you can also never be too quick!
Each time trial provides the same course every week, and encourages a friendly level of competition. parkrun offer you, the athletes, the opportunity to track your progress over weeks, months, seasons and years.
It is a 5km run - it's you against the clock, we all run for own enjoyment. Please come along and join in whatever your pace.
It's totally FREE, but please register in advance to avoid disappointment. You will need to register before 6pm on the Friday before you wish to run. You do this at www.parkrun.com/
If travelling by car the best entrance to use is the Lake car park, off Sheepfoot Lane. During certain times there is a charge of £1.50 to park.
Heaton parkrun is organised by parkrun and sherunsheruns.It is managed weekly by sherunsheruns, who make sure everything is ready for the run, week in week out. All heaton parkrun runners can get 10% off their purchaes at sherunsheruns in the manchester arndale if they take in their parkrun barcode.

At British military fitness there are three levels of class BLUE-beginners class, RED-intermediate and GREEN-advanced class. Classes are all taken by fully qualified fitness instructors, either serving or ex military personnel.
