Heaton Park Metrolink Bonfire & Fireworks
Let trams rocket you to the bonfire
The fifth of November will go off like a rocket thanks to the Heaton Park - Metrolink Bonfire & Fireworks Display.
This free family event will light up the night sky on Thursday 5 November thanks to the partnership between the park and Metrolink.
Metrolink tram system has extended its partnership with the Manchester City Council -owned park - one of Europe's largest publicly owned parks - to host the Guy Fawkes celebrations and to help families travel easily to the event.
With the rolling landscape of Heaton Park providing the perfect stage for the dazzling pyrotechnics, Metrolink will transport thousands of visitors to the park to enjoy this theatrical spectacle, which takes place on the Papal Fields site.
Councillor Mike Amesbury, Manchester City Council's executive member for culture and leisure said: "Bonfire night is always extremely popular at Heaton Park and we're delighted that the partnership with Metrolink will enable us to put on a great event. It's good news for families travelling to the park that the trams can make this even easier so there's no hassle trying to park or queuing in traffic."
Philip Purdy, GMPTE Metrolink's Director, said: "Heaton Park is one the region's most prestigious parks, both in terms of a popular local hotspot and a well-known tourist attraction.
"This new partnership will be a real boast for Metrolink passengers and visitors to the park as we work together to provide a joined-up service making trips as easy and safe as possible.
"Having invested more than £100 million in new trams and upgrading tracks, all of which will be complete early November, the tram is ideally suited to events like this at Heaton Park."
The Heaton Park - Metrolink Bonfire & Fireworks Display will take place on Thursday 5 November, with funfair and fireworks at 7.30pm and bonfire at 8.00pm.
Entry is free to the event and the Heaton Park stop is on the Metrolink Bury line.
