Christmas Celebration Weekend 5th & 6th December 2009

Santa brings Christmas cheer to Heaton Park

Santa Claus is coming to town and will be calling into the Farm Centre at Heaton Park on Saturday 5 December and Sunday 6 December 2009.  This annual event is organised by the Heaton Park Wardens for the local community.

Children can visit him in his grotto over the two days between 12noon and 3pm, tell him their Christmas wish-lists and will even receive a small gift. There is a charge of £3 for the grotto.

Father Christmas isn't the only attraction to get people feeling festive and there is lots to see do for people of all ages.

The 2-day Christmas event is a great place to do some Christmas shopping with a small number of market stalls run by local traders selling crafts and gifts in the Farm Centre .

Christmas trees, wreaths and seasonal plants are for sale at The Hidden Gem Garden Centre.

Visitors are invited to join a winter walk from the entrance of Heaton Hall around the park's beautiful grounds, accompanied by a member of staff who will be on hand to discuss points of interest. Guided walks start at 1pm and 3pm.

Tours of Heaton Hall are also being held by the Friends of Heaton Park between 12pm - 4pm, where there will be mince pies and mulled wine available for those who have worked up an appetite.

Hot chestnuts will be roasting at the Farm Centre, while the Stables Café will be serving up delicious and tempting treats.

Weather permitting, boats will be available to hire for a relaxing row on the lake and children will enjoy donkey rides and small fair rides outside the Farm Centre.
